2012 Events & Activities Overview

Savage Arts Council sponsors or participates in a variety of events and activities each year.  For 2012 our signature events and activities are as follows:

SAS Logo Monthly Board and Member Meetings - Savage Arts Council holds monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of the month, unless otherwise posted on our site calendar, at Savage City Hall from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  The meeting is generally held in the McHenery Room but check the reader board when you enter.  We do not hold meetings in December or August.

Faces of Savage - PICK UP OF PORTRAITS May 1 - 10, 2012.

Residents of Savage or people who work in Savage were invited to become a part of the Faces of Savage portrait project by area artists Patrica Kness and Kathy Gates Gilmore.  Studio artists at Savage Art Studios in the Hamilton District of Savage, Kathy and Pat have under taken a year long exploration to paint portraits of community members for free.  In the end they were able to show 104 portraits. Now on display at Savage Art Studios and gallery through April 30, 2012.  Don't miss this extraordinary event.  The project is being supported by a grant from the Savage Arts Council and individual donations.

Juried Art Competition and Show -

APPLY ONLINE NOW THROUGH MAY 30, 2012! (links to entry) The 6th Annual Juried Art Competition and Show is one of our signature events.  Minnesota Artists are encouraged to participate in this fun and up-beat event. Artists enter up to two works of their choice.  Our jury reviews all works and invites artists to participate in the live judging and show.  The final judging takes is a live process where the judge sees each piece before awarding winners.  The Awards Ceremony and Judges Ceremony will take place on Saturday June 16 beginning at 11:30AM with a Judges and Winners reception immediately following the Awards Ceremony. Annual Dan Patch Wine Tasting -  Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 6 to 9pm at Community Park in Savage. This annual fund raiser helps to support the Savage Rotary and The Savage Arts Council. Tickets are available for sale beginning in May at all Savage Liquor Stores and Savage Art Studios.

Logo for Minnesota River Arts Fair July 28 and 29

Minnesota River Arts Fair - Travel through time back to Heritage Village of the 1880's along the Minnesota River at Three River's Park's The Landing (formerly Murphy's Landing) in Shakopee on July 28 and 29, 2012 from 10am to 6pm.  This first ever Minnesota River Arts Fair will feature up to 125 Minnesota Artists' booth selling original fine art paintings, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, textiles and so much more.  Artists will be juried into the event and must either live or work in Minnesota to be eligible to apply.  Expect the best that Minnesota has to offer. Planning Committee Meetings the 4th Tuesday of each month Jan - June. at Savage Art Studios - 4735 W 123rd St STE 200 - Savage

Scott County Art Crawl Logo

Scott County Art Crawl - Take a self guided tour through beautiful Scott County to visit our local Artisian's Studios and Business hosting local artists selling their works.  The event features over 60 area artists working in oils, watercolors, pastels, pottery, blown glass, fused glass, sculpture, pottery, hand-crafted jewelry and so much more.  Artists must live or work in Scott County or surrounding communities to be juried into this event.  Scheduled for Saturday October 6th from 10am to 6pm.  Join the fun! WinterFest Scavenger Hunt

WinterFest Scavenger Hunt - Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 5 to 8pm.  Join this fun filled community event by participating in the Second Annual Savage Arts Council's WinterFest Scavenger hunt.  Find the artwork hidden in area businesses to qualify for a drawing of cash and prizes to be held at 7:50PM at Savage Art Studios!
